Ive been playing the demo for nearly 3 days now and if its anything to go by (which it should be), it will be worth buying the game when its released (March 2004 I believe) just for Onslaught, the new game type added for the 2004 version of the game. The addition of vehicles in Onslaught adds a whole new level to the Unreal universe. The vehicles vary from ground based 4 wheeled vehicles, to Tanks, a hovercraft type vehicle called the Manta and flying vehicles such as the Raptor, a jet propelled hovering, bringer of death which fires guided rockets as well as a kind of laser/pulse gun.
All the vehicles in the demo are very easy to control with a bit of practice and the weapons all feel as they should. Though I dare say they will tweak a few things before the game is released, especially in the sound department.
Theres also support built in for a Microphone so you can talk to the other players in a game. A built in text reader can also be used, which reads out what you or anyone online/LAN types in. Nice touch.
Other game types include the usual Deathmatch/Team Deathmatch, Capture the flag, Bombing Run and the return of the Assault game type from the original Unreal Tournament.
If you played UT2003 then youll know what to expect, however the Onslaught game type takes it all to a new level. Try the demo and see for yourself. Highly recommended.
